Jardins de Bagatelle

Germaine Cellier est la première femme à être entrée dans le monde privilégié des parfumeurs. Son imagination fertile et son esprit indépendant ont marqué cette belle profession. Née en 1909, à Bordeaux, elle entreprend en 1930 des études de chimie à Paris. Intéressée par le monde des odeurs, elle entre dans la société de parfumerie Roure-Bertrand-Dupont. Elle fait très vite parler d'elle, son langage franc et coloré n'épargne personne et ceux qui l'ont connue aiment la décrire comme une «Arletty blonde». Ses créations sont audacieuses, carrées, un peu brutes. Elle aime les formules courtes, concises. Elle crée en 1944 Bandit, un chypre cuir, fauve et sensuel. De sa rencontre avec Pierre Balmain naît le superbe Vent vert. Elle devient gérante de la société Exarome en 1946. C'est là qu'est tourné le 1er film publicitaire sur le parfum. La même année elle crée Cœur-joie, le 1er parfum de Nina Ricci. Suivront de nombreuses compositions toujours originales et non conformistes, telles que Jolie Madame de Balmain (1953), Monsieur Balmain (1964) et plusieurs parfums vendus aux États-Unis pour Elizabeth Arden.
